Father’s Day Prayer

God, you who have also been called ‘Father,’

Thank you for those, who under the same name, like you, care for a family,

You who have been called ‘Abba,’ inspire those who have been called ‘dad,’ to live in community,

as you live in the community of the Trinity.

Where the name ‘father’ has been callously used to manipulate, dominate, or destroy, we ask forgiveness.

Bring fathers, mothers, and all those who nurture children,

to a deeper understanding of the privilege and responsibility of sharing Your name.
